Jade at 11 months

Time flies so fast. Jade is already 11 mos. old. Few days from now, she will be blowing her 1st birhtday cake =). She has grown up in her own pace and would soon be seen running around the house.

We practice her walking by letting her sit in a small chair and call her to come to us. In most times, she takes 2 to 3 steps, at other times, she takes one giant step and at other times, she turns to the wall and walks sideways. =)

When she's playing in her crib and accidentally falls, there are times that she doesn't get up quickly but instead lay there lazily.

She enjoys the slide.
She eats biscuit/cookie by herself. Seeing the pattern during her mealtime, she also feeds us in her own way. :)

She plays "pass the ball" with either Dennis or me, a game her dad enjoys with her.

Macanna

In one of our MRT trips somewhere in Taipei City, I saw these pair of shoes that caught my attention. I tried to show it to Dennis but the lady wearing them have walked away quickly so he was not able see. Anyway, going back to the pair of shoes, seeing them will make you think that the lady is wearing the wrong pair of shoes. But staring at them once again will make you think that the one who made it is really artistic. One shoe has several stripes with colors different from that in the other shoe. Even the colors of the back portion (closing) are different, the more that will make you say "Hey, she's wearing the wrong shoes".

I never thought about it until my time came to look for a new pair of shoes which I owe myself (or is it my husband?) long time ago. I wanted a pair of boots so I could wear them during the winter specially when it rains however I couldn't find the one I like. I thought of buying a pair of rubber shoes, yet I am not so convinced. That's always my problem when buying shoes, it takes me a lot of time to find one...

After our studio session, we headed to the town center opposite the side where we usually stroll. Then we saw this custom built shoe store - but shesh, the price of the shoe I could have liked was way beyond my budget. (BTW, my budget is 2K NTD). Next to it was a somewhat tribal store which turned out to be another shoe store. And there, I saw a pair of shoes displayed, similar to what I have seen in the MRT. The first thing I asked was the price. The store owner told us it's 1.8K NTD, close to my budget. But when he came back after getting 3 other pairs which I could choose from (I mean choose whichever I want to pair up), he said the price is 2.2K NTD and it's on sale with 3.8K NTD as the original price. Not too bad for a discount. I tried to fit them and it suited right for me. It's soft and comfortable inside. Dennis asked me if I could wear it at work (noting the multiple colors) and I said, of course! We saw the ones for men but my hubby didn't like it, hehehe.

We looked for the colors that closely matched each other and had my old shoes boxed instead of the new pair after paying it of course. Luckily, I didn't get any blister after few hours of walking. Here's a sample (one shoe only) of how it looked like in multiple colors. Sorry, I just got this from the web. Will post the actual ones I have later.

This is the actual pair:

Third and last visit to the studio on 2006

Before 2006 ends, we decided to have our 3rd and last family picture taken in the studio on the 31st of December. The 1st visit was on June 2006 (Tamsui) and 2nd on October 2006 (SM Dasma).

Jade wasn't really on a smiling mood yet the pictures turned out to be good. Here are 3 of the 4 pictures showing our family.

Mommy, Jade Dominique (7mos,3wks old) and Daddy

She's still not smiling huh!

My new kitchen companions

I have been planning to invite a number of friends for dinner but did not have the suitable kitchen utensils to cook for a table of 5 people or more. Next weekend’s Christmas already and we were hoping to celebrate it with friends so we headed to Carrefour last Saturday and did some shopping, making sure we headed for the kitchen section first before anything else. Look what I got…

A typical wok...

A Tefal pan (thermo-spot)
and an Argus Pot

Now, I am ready to cook more than what I usually prepare.

After Eight

I am supposed to be working on a special project from home but i don’t know how to proceed with what I have on hand so I decided to send several emails to friends, surf the net, upload new pictures in friendster and while doing that, write a blog entry.

Hmmn, I have done more than what I ought to do, hahaha. Anyway, before I end up with an unfinish article, I’d better get to what I am supposed to post.

Last Sunday, after hearing mass and having lunch in a newly opened Pinoy store/eatery in Tamsui, we headed to Carrefour, a mini-mart 10-15 minutes away from town. Surprisingly, we noticed that there were unusually lots of people that day. We used to go there on weekends but didn’t really encounter such crowd. Eventually, we figured out that the mart was on sale. To our advantage, some of the items we bought were on sale. One of which will be discussed in a separate entry (meaning I might have more than one entry tonight or it would be a late entry soon).

After almost one hour of going around the 1st floor area (where I got my main shopping stuffs), we headed up to the food section on the 2nd floor. Few steps out from the escalator were displays of chocolates which were on promo. I don’t have much interest in chocolates; luckily I don’t have a sweet tooth, so we really bother much looking at the displays until a familiar box caught my attention. I saw the brandname and pause to remember where and when I knew about such brand and realized, it was way back in Ireland on my 1st business trip in 2001. Whew, that was quite a number of years ago, huh! Then Dennis also remembered that I brought home such chocolates. It brought back a lot of memories leading me to buy one box at a price of 75NTD (~115PhP). There were two available flavors and I chose to get the “Bitter & Dark Rum”, I forgot the other flavor. Does my pick give a hint of why I had it? Ha! Ha! Ha! But I guess, it was more of the memory that the “After Eight” chocolate that gave me the reason to buy it. Which led me to miss Ireland and I have the same feeling at this very moment I am typing this entry.

Now, enough of the sentiments as I still have to move on and finish this. I had the first bite of it few hours ago and as the brandname implies, it should be eaten after 8PM. I shared the 1st piece with Dennis. I had the 2nd piece by myself after I drank a cup of coffee. Not having eaten chocolate for a period of time, it seemed that the taste lingered in my throat thus I had to drink a cup of warm water so that at the same time, I won’t suffer from sore throat later and might blame the chocolate for it.

Anyhow, I took some photos of the unopened chocolate box, the 1st piece opened and the chocolote with a portion bitten.

PS. Hurray, I was able to finish this entry without any sort of interruption. But it’s almost midnight and I might not be able to do the thing I am supposed to. Poor report, it has been there since last week. My future boss who needs it will be back on Wednesday, meaning I will still have tomorrow to finish it. Ha! Ha! Ha!

Slumber

Sleep! Sleep! Beauty Bright

Sleep! sleep! beauty bright,
Dreaming o'er the joys of night;
Sleep! sleep! in thy sleep
Little sorrows sit and weep.

Sweet Babe, in thy face
Soft desires I can trace,
Secret joys and secret smiles,
Little pretty infant wiles.

As thy softest limbs I feel,
Smiles as of the morning steal
O'er thy cheek, and o'er thy breast
Where thy little heart does rest.

O! the cunning wiles that creep
In thy little heart asleep.
When thy little heart does wake
Then the dreadful lightnings break,

From thy cheek and from thy eye,
O'er the youthful harvests nigh.
Infant wiles and infant smiles
Heaven and Earth of peace beguiles.

William Blake
